80 Lap Scramble and Dislay in aid of the

Battle of Britain Memorial, Capel-Le-Ferne

Sunday 16th August 2020

A successful 80 lap scramble by the 253 Squadron group this morning.

The 5 members of the group taking part completed the 80 laps (24km) of the memorial in a time of 40 minutes and managed to raise £350 for the Battle of Britain Memorial through sponsorship and money raised on the day with a raffle, we were also joined for a lap by the Manager (our acting Squadron Leader for the day).

The group had a great dy meeting the public and were made to feel extremely welcome by all the members of staff.

For some of the group it was the first visit to the memorial and they practically enjoyed the scramble experience and can't wait to get back to have a go at the virtual experience.

Along with the staff and public that were all so great to us we would like to also thank Dilip Sarker, MBE for the donation of copies of his latest books, Adrian Harrison from Harrison-Brown Models for the donation of model kits and to Daniel Richards for the donation of parts of an actual Battle of Britain Spitfire to be prizes for the raffle.

Also a big thank you to Barry Duffield for the hours he spent with us with his camera.
